Jim Harmon from SeaShare met with the National Fisheries Institute’s (NFI) 2014 class of Future Leaders (45 seafood professionals) in Portland on July 10. They discussed the ongoing need for seafood donations, plus the opportunity for all members to help raise funds for hunger-relief. Jim also explained the marketing and development project that SeaShare is working on, and the need to broadcast their new message after it launches in mid-October. The class said they would discuss, and come up with a plan to help.
SeaShare has been in contact with many of the class members over the last month, and their efforts are picking up steam. There are plans to:
- Challenge companies for seafood donations during the 4th quarter.
- Compete regionally in fundraising. This will include sports themed events.
- Share SeaShare’s new marketing tools; peer to peer, through company website links, and in marketing materials, all during the 4th quarter.
- Volunteer at Feeding America’s food bank in Las Vegas Nevada during the NFI conference on Jan. 26th.
This is shaping up to be a great group effort to put more seafood on more tables. Please contact Jim or Mary Harmon at SeaShare if you have more ideas:
