More than 40 stakeholders attended the meeting
Sea Delight representative Stephen Fisher was invited to give a short presentation on the basic principles of MSC and the pre-assessment process. The presentation was prepared by Mr. Keith Symington of WWF Coral Triangle. WWF Coral Triangle has also pledged financial support for the pre-assessment as part of its ongoing Capacity Building Training for in-country MSC assessors in Vietnam and Indonesia.
Support for the MSC process and a Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for the fishery was voiced in speeches by the Director of the Binh Thuan fisheries department and the Director of the provincial People’s Committee. The major local fish processor was represented by it’s corporate director who also pledged full support for the MSC process.
Although Sea Delight is not currently sourcing bottom fish from this fishery we will continue to report on the progress as the FIP is developed.
